Hamlin Sign Dedication

The Southern Wayne Regional Chamber of Commerce Hamlin sign project began with the Beautification Grant of $400.00 from PMVB, we invited the help of the community.  We contacted Western Wayne wood shop instructor who spoke with a group of students.  They offered their services and talents to the construction of four decorative Welcome to Hamlin signs.  We then received a call from the Scout Master of Troop #205 that one of the scouts was looking for an eagle scout project to complete, and offered their services for the erection of the signs and landscaping of the sites.  The Chamber then proceeded to contact local property owners for the use of their land in displaying of the signs.  Many local businesses donated materials for the signs.  With continuing support of PMVB, PPL, the county commissioners, it has truly been a community effort for the Beautification of the village, as well as identifying ourselves to our many visitors.

January 14, Sun. 1-3 Snow & Soup Sunday
Join us in celebrating the snow or the lack of snow. After enjoying a warm bowl of soup, Naturalist Jen Naugle will lead a walk on one of Lacawac Sanctuary's many trails. If you do not wish to join the walk, you can wait for the group in our lodge, but you might get put to work on the refreshments. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee and a delightful fire will be available to warm up returning walkers. Pre-register by Jan. 10. Snow date 1/21. Donation: Members $7, Children 12 & under Free; Non-members $10, Children 12 & under $3.

January 22, Mon 10am-Noon-Homeschool Naturalist – “Naturally Winter”

This program is designed for home-schooled children ages 6-9 with a caregiver.  Snow is cool stuff!  But where are all the animals?  How do they survive the winter?  Is there anything that can live in the snow?  Pre-registration is required.  Donation: $5 for Member children, $7 for Non-Member children. Call 570-689-9494

January 27, Sat 1-3 Snowpeople - Nature Craft

We don’t need real snow to make snowmen.  Come out and make a snowman or snowwoman with our Environmental Educator, Jamie Harbaugh.  We’ll make little snowpeople that you can take home – they’ll even act as an air freshener.  So bring two eyes made out of coal, and a little button nose and make a soapy snowman.  If the weather cooperates, we can go outside to make a real snowperson after we’re done.  Donation: $5 Members/$3 Non-Members, 12 and under free, plus $1 per snowman.

February 2, Fri 6pm Full Moon Walk “Snow Moon”

Join Environmental Educator Jamie Harbaugh on a walk through the woods.  With the full moon and possible snow on the ground, you will not need your flashlight to enjoy this night walk.  Program is FREE, but donations are welcome.

February 3, Sat 1-3 pm WALKS Footprints in the Snow, Part 1

Not all the animals are hibernating; some are still on the move. It is amazing what an animal will tell you by the signs it leaves behind. We’ll learn what signs to look for when tracking. Then we will explore the forest edge for animal tracks and signs. (We will not need snow for this program) Snow date 2/17. $5 Members/$3 Non-Members, 12 and under free, plus

February 11, Sun 1-3 pm WALKS Footprints in the Snow, Part 2
