Background
The three Chambers of Commerce that
serve Wayne County - Southern
Wayne, Hawley/Lake
Wallenpaupack, and Wayne
County - have sponsored the first Leadership Wayne class this
year. The students were drawn from various sectors of our
community, including banking, education, health care, and small
business. Our class met one Friday each month, for sessions filled
with information about the resources and development of Wayne
County and the challenges facing our area. We will take the skills
and information learned through this program back to our jobs to
help us better serve our community.
As part of our program, we have developed a
project to address some of the issues we have been learning about,
and provide long-term benefit to the community: the formation of a
local chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)
for the Wayne County area.
What is SCORE?
SCORE
is a non-profit association of volunteer business counselors who
serve as advisors and mentors to aspiring entrepreneurs and
current business owners. New or existing businesses can come to
SCORE with questions about anything from sales to advertising, and
will be matched with a counselor who has expertise in that area.
These services will offered free of charge.
